Objectives

The course involves practicing the ideation and development of non-fictional media content, including conceptualization and pitching, with the goal of identifying potential publishing channels.

After completing the course, the student
- identifies the importance of a strong concept in capturing audience interest
- applies ideation methods to generate potential ideas
- conducts research to identify subjects, themes, audiences and relevant information related to the chosen concept including financing
- creates and visualises a concept, incorporating storytelling elements, visual elements and narrative techniques
- can define the target audience and channel for the concept
- evaluates costs and required resources for the execution of the concept
- evaluates ethical and legal aspects associated with the concept
- can pitch the concept

Content

Form, significance, and role of the concept in production development.
Idea generation and background research of non-fiction topics.
Identifying target audiences and publication channels.
Developing and pitching the concept.
