Objectives

The course aims to introduce the experience economy, the modern phase of global economy, and its’ characteristics. It is focused on practical designing and analyzing experience products. Students learn the special nature of products and services based on meaningful customer experiences applied in any business sector. Product design model for practical product design and analyzing is studied.

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
• understand the nature and meaning of the experience economy as a current trend in global economy.
• apply the experience product design principles and tool in product design process.
• analyze the existing products and improve their quality.

Content

The contents include the followings:
• Which are the characteristics of the experience economy, experience products and services?
• How to apply experience design tool in product design in practice?
• How to analyze the existing experience products and how to improve their quality?

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student recognizes the specific nature and meaning of experience economy in product design process. He/she is able to explain the process of product designing and analysis reflecting theoretical framework of experience economy and apply design tool studied on a basic level. The student is participating team working, taking responsibility of his/her own performance.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Student can clearly explain various aspects of the experience economy characteristics in product design process. He/she is able to describe the process of product designing and analysis reflecting theoretical framework of experience economy and apply design tool studied, covering and understanding the most essential contents of it. The student participates actively and responsibly in team working, taking responsibility of team performance.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student can thoroughly explain various aspects of the experience economy characteristics in product design process. He/she is able to describe the process of product designing and analysis reflecting theoretical framework of experience economy and apply design tool studied, justifying and covering the contents of it. Student implements skills of considering the specific business needs and develop highly original or innovative ideas. Student participates actively and responsibly in team working, taking responsibility of team performance and implementing professional working skills.
