Objective of course
Students know the organization of hospital district administration as a part of the social welfare and health care system and the legislation governing the system as well as the role of the municipalities. They identify the productivity, cost-effectiveness and impact of health care services. Students become aware of high-quality and cost- effective work from the perspective of the users / providers of the services. They outline labor policy as a part of nursing. Students know the significance of patient-oriented service; organization and they are able to adapt the patient's rights and status in nursing. Students learn to use different methods when evaluating and improving the quality of nursing. They are able to use research in the development of practice, leadership and supervision of nursing. Students learn about the history of nursing and nursing science research in Finland as well as in other countries. Students recognize the ethical issues related to terminal care and decision-making in nursing. They are able to act as experts in multiprofessional work groups during their clinical trainings.

The organization of social welfare and health care in Finland and Europe and the legislation governing the service system

Development of improvement and monitoring methods of nursing quality
Productivity, cost-effectiveness and impact of health care services (budget)
