Personal and Professional Development (3op)

Osaamistavoitteet

This course will develop the student’s speaking and visualisation skills, with a personal, assertive and interactive performing style as the goal. It also guides how to enhance the intelligibility of the message and how to take into account the different needs of a number of audience types and help students to find their personal professionalism as an engineer.

The main contents comprise of the following: defining and outlining of material, the choice of proper presentation methods in a given case: speech style, body language, the use of space and effortless and effective conveyance of information; standard layouts; business correspondence; contracts, proposals, reports, articles and other professional docu¬ments. Special emphasis is given to the style and finishing touches.

Literature: Will be annnounced in teh beginning of the course. Educational methods: teach-in, activating writing, argumentation, study conversation, learning simulation and games, process writing, cooperative learning, self study/distance learning, exercises, assignments.
