Objectives

Student understands essential concepts and theories in industrial economics and business, and is able to look at them in practice in different industries. Student understands how companies operate and is able to interpret their solutions from the point of view of a company’s strategies and profitability. Student knows special characteristics of products and services introduced during the course, and different ways to produce them. Student understands cost structure of a company and is able to apply simple pricing-, budgeting-, cost calculations and knows the essential indicators of profitability. Student is able to compare the cost-effectiveness of different investments. Student knows the content and relevance of a quality management system and enterprise resource planning (ERP) for companies. Student knows the principles of production planning and understands the delivery chain to a customer.

Company types; strategies of companies; success factors; production methods for different goods and services; basic concepts of accounting; costs, productivity and profitability of a company; budgeting; pricing and cost accounting; investments and investment costs; concepts of quality; essential theories of quality; quality management systems (QMS); quality standards; use of quality management tools in steering the processes and continuous improvement; SAP; TQM; Six Sigma; PDCA

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student knows how to identify and define the essential theories of B2B-marketing, is able to name basic concepts of marketing and export trade and knows how to search for market intelligence.

Student is able to complete the given assignments under supervision. Student identifies the important practices of export trade and dealing with clients.

Student participates in group activities and recognizes his/her own people skills.

Student is able to apply essential theories in B2B marketing in practice and is able to compare different marketing solutions and is able to explain the core concepts in marketing and export business. Student knows how to search and use information that is related to own field.
