Osaamistavoitteet

The purpose of the course is to strengthen the student's skills needed in the thesis process and to introduce the practicalities of the thesis process in the degree programme of Textile and Material Engineering.

After completing the course, the student
• knows the most common research methods and thesis types, and knows how to apply them appropriately
• is able to acquire information in a versatile way and is able to critically evaluate different sources of information
• takes into account research ethics
• knows the thesis process in TAMK and thesis requirements of Degree Programme in Textile and Material Engineering

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1-2)

Students know the steps of the research process and can reflect on the quality and reliability of the research. The student's written output meets the TAMK guidelines for written reporting and the satisfactory level of the written part of the thesis.

The student masters the research process and its stages and is able to analyse research topics in a variety of ways. The student's written output meets the good level of the TAMK guidelines for written reporting.

The student masters the research process and is able to independently, comprehensively and critically analyse research topics. The student's written output meets the TAMK guidelines for written reporting and the written part of the thesis at an excellent level.

Passing the course, the student can explain the thesis process and the main research methods, can find scientific information independently, and is aware of good and ethical practices of research.
