Opettajan yhteenveto palautteesta
Toteutuksen kulku opettajan näkökulmasta:
The course went rather well. There are always some glitches and some technical issues, but overall, there were few problems. Also, you asked for printable materials and I was able to produce them during the course, which was a good thing.
Opettajan yhteenveto opiskelijoiden antamasta palautteesta:
While most of you seemed to like the course, there were a few things which caused some comments. Some of you said that it would've been easier to work alone instead of groups, and I fully agree: it would've been easier. However, in the working life, you will need on-line group working skills, and that's the reason why I asked you to work as groups for this course (so you'd get the experience on something you will need later on in your careers). Some of you didn't like reading a fantasy novel, which I totally understand, and I'd like to update the list to include other types of books as well. Unfortunately, as I want the novels to be available on-line for free (and legally!) or easily obtained in the bookshops/libraries, it limits the selection quite a bit. A few of you didn't like the very grammar-focused exam, but as the rest of the assignments test writing, I felt it was important to test grammar as well (the course was "English Grammar and Writing" after all).
Jatkotoimenpiteet:
I'm hoping to update the list of books for next year, but we'll see (it's very much a matter of time). We'll be moving from the current Moodle to a newer version, so that might also bring about some changes. I'm not going to quit using the group assignment, as it is good practice for working life outside TAMK as well.
