Objectives

Student
• can describe the network structures, components and characteristics of a typical electricity transmission and distribution network
• knows the dimensioning and planning principles of electrical networks
• knows the requirements of overcurrent, overvoltage and contact voltage protection of electrical networks

The student understands the laws and operating principles of the electricity market.

Content

Basic structures of electrical distribution networks, components and principles of protection. Calculation of electro-technical quantities in a radial distribution network: modelling the components and loads in a network, load flow calculations, calculating short circuit currents, calculating current leakage. Basic principles of technical and economic design and use of distribution networks. Electricity markets.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student
• knows the components and structure of the low voltage network
• knows the structure of a conventional medium voltage network
• knows the actors of the electricity market

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

In addition to the previous requirements, the student can calculate the electrical parameters of a typical electrical network in various operating and fault situations.
The student understands the operating principles of the electricity market.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the previous requirements, the student is able to independently apply the skills she/he has learned in various practical situations.
