Objectives (course unit)

Opiskelija osaa toimia julkisen kuorokonsertin vastuullisena taiteellisena johtajana. Hän osaa tulkita teokset taiteellisesti itsenäisesti ja osoittaa hallitsevansa vaativien kuoroteosten johtamiseen tarvittavan lyöntitekniikan, instrumentin soinninhallinnan sekä teosanalyysin taidot.
Opiskelija kykenee ottamaan vastuun omasta toiminnastaan ja sen seurauksista sekä osaa ottaa erilaiset toimijat huomioon työskentelyssään. Hän kykenee ottamaan vastuuta ryhmän oppimisesta ja opitun jakamisesta sekä toimimaan työyhteisön jäsenenä ja edistämään yhteisön hyvinvointia.

Content (course unit)

A concert unity of the minimum length of 45 minutes with an own choir or choirs and a highly skilled choir approved by the institution. The repertoire has to cover barock, renaissance and romantic eras and include 1-2 demanding works composed after 1960, of which one work has to be accompanied with an instrument.

Musical theatre:
Agreed with the teacher. There is 26 lessons per academic year, duration 60min/ lesson

Evaluation methods and criteria

Musical theatre:
Regular participation to lessons (and master classes and concerts). Performance during the fall semester at the concert (written feedback is given). Particular requirements of the course is found from Tuni INTRA or your own teacher or senior lecturer Hanna Hurskainen

Teaching methods

Musical theatre:
individual lessons and master classes. Group session when possible.
Recital B is devided for two parts, technical and artistic

Musical theatre:
Repertoire is agreed with the teacher. Musical theatre repertoire is included.

Student workload

Musical theatre:
Requires commitment and regular participation to lessons and independent training. Master classes and concerts are important part of education.

Content scheduling

Musical theatre:
Teaching continues steadily throughout the academic year, except period-weeks, when there is no regular teaching or lessons.
Periods at autumn weeks 46, 47 and 51.
Periods at spring weeks 12-14

Student hasn´t participated lessons and there is significant lack of skills.

Musical theatre:
Evaluation criteria Satisfactory (1-2)
The student is capable of performing repertoire of professional level.
The artistic and technical mastery of the instrument is at a satisfactory level. The sound culture is restricted. Mastery of musical entities is poor.

Musical theatre:
The student has mastered and is capable of presentingthe repertoire technically and artistically and brings out the charasteristic features of differenr styles.. The student`s sound culture and use of the voice are reasonably diverse and mastery of musical entities is good.

Musical theatre:
The student demonstrates not only ecxellent technical mastery but also artistic and personal power of expression.
The student`s portrayal of different styles is particularly impressive. The student has acquired a rich sound culture and controlled use of the voice and is also capable of creating interesting artistic entities.
