Developing spoken and written communications skills needed in the chosen field of specialization in technology and increasing the professional vocabulary of technology.

• English for construction engineering, depending on the specialisation option
• Construction engineer in the business life
- meeting and negotiation skills
- trade fair
- small talk
- intercultural communication
• Presentation of a technical product, device, process, software etc.
- measurements, form, materials, faults and other technical information
• Applying for a job
- CV, job application, job interview
• Grammar as needed

- is unable to participate in spoken communication because of his/her difficulties in spoken production /or in understanding other speakers
-pronunciation is difficult to understand
-can control a very narrow vocabulary which is not enough in order to deal with production or interaction. Uses inappropriate words and phrases repeatedly
-shows a limited control of a few simple grammatical structures
-is unable to deal with written communication in an appropriate way
-cannot produce clear and coherent text.
-has problems to find relevant information in texts on familiar matters
Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
-can carry out a job interview provided he/she is given some help to express what he/she wants to
- can write memos, reports, summaries and other texts related to his/her field such as manuals provided he/she can prepare them long enough
- can understand texts in his/her field provided he/she can use aids e.g. dictionaries
- can deal with simple conversations
- can follow standard speech in everyday conversation provided he/she can ask for repetition
- pronounces mostly comprehensibly
- can express him/herself with somewhat clarity
- uses basic grammatical structures
- has a sufficient vocabulary to express him/herself so that essential message comes across
- can find and understand relevant information in texts on familiar matters

- can carry out a job interview fairly effectively and fluently
- can write memos, reports, summaries and other texts connected to his field such as instructions and manuals
- can understand texts on subjects related to his field
- can discuss and interact with some confidence
- can understand interlocutors who use different accents if the topic is familiar
- pronunciation is fairly intelligible even if a foreign accent is somewhat evident and occasional mispronunciations occur
- can express him/herself fairly clearly and precisely in writing
- shows a relatively high degree of grammatical control. If he/she makes mistakes he/she can correct him/herself if mistakes have led to misunderstanding
- lexical accuracy is fairly high
- can understand the main ideas of complext text
on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.

- has acquired a clear, natural pronunciation and intonation
- can express him/herself with clarity and precision in writing
- has a good grammatical control and accuracy. Occasional slips or non-systematic errors and minor flaws in sentence structure may still occur
- has a good command of a broad lexical repertoire
- can understand in detail a wide range of lengthy, complex texts
