Objectives

During this course, students will be introduced to research data, its retrieval, critical evaluation, and utilization in practice. Additionally, they will become familiar with the key national and international treatment recommendations in oral healthcare.

Upon completion of the studies, the student will be able to:
• Identify professional and scientific sources of information in their field and systematically retrieve information from them.
• Evaluate and utilize sources of information following good scientific practice.
• Understand the significance of evidence-based practice in their field.
• Utilize evidence-based information and treatment recommendations in oral healthcare practice.
• Understand the implementation of descriptive literature reviews and practice conducting them.
• Familiarize themselves with process writing and understand its potential as a support for writing.

Structured information retrieval and national and international databases in the health sector
Reading skills in scientific research and source criticism
Evidence-based practice in oral healthcare
National and international treatment recommendations in healthcare
Descriptive literature review
Writing Communication 1 cr: Process writing model

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

The student has actively participated in the instruction and completed the given assignments as instructed.
Writing communication: The student has applied process writing to support their own writing task.
