Objectives (course unit)

The student gains control of applications that can be used to solve challenging structural mechanics problems. The student can solve problems in structural mechanics both by manual methods and with computer assistance, and can analyze the obtained results and their significance in structural design.

The goal of the study course is to deepen graduate studies in the mechanics of structures by utilizing different application programs.

Content (course unit)

• Stiffening of structures
• Behavior of structures in accident situations
• Continuous collapse
• Basics of second-order theory through computer programs
• Combination models (rods and shells) and their solutions with computer assistance
• FEM software and features and phenomena related to calculation

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student can recognize and define the basic issues related to structural mechanics applications and solve simple tasks with the help of applications.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

In addition to the previous one, the student is able to choose the most suitable procedure from the different options by applying and comparing them and justify their choice.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

In addition to the previous one, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the subjects of the course and their use to solve problems, as well as the ability to present, analyze and logically justify solution methods.
