Objectives (course unit)

The student
-knows the basic ethical values in social welfare and health care
-knows the professional ethical guidelines and principles of the radiographer's profession
-is aware of his/her own values and is able to describe them regarding the values and ethical principles in health care
-knows the meaning of ethics when related to media

Content (course unit)

-values, ethics, moral and self-determination
-various concepts of human being
-human rights and equality
-ethical decision-making on different dimensions
-guidelines of professional ethics

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

-can identify the ethical principles of social welfare and health care
-can define the concept of human being on his/her line of work
-knows the values of social welfare and health care and the radiographer's ethical principles
-knows the ethical decision-making process of social welfare and health care and identifies his/her vocational responsibility as a part of social welfare and health care

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

-can describe and justify ethical thinking in social welfare and health care
-understands the concept of human being in social welfare and health care
-knows the values and guidelines of professional ethics and acts accordingly
-understands the ethical decision-making process in social welfare and health care
-can justify decisions according to the ethical decision-making process showing vocational responsibility

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

-can analyse ethical thinking and the significance of the idea of man in social welfare and health care critically
-can adapt the values of social welfare and health care and the radiographer's ethical principles in different connections
-understands the ethical decision-making process in social welfare and health care
-can analyse critically and can justify situation-specific decisions according to the ethical decision-making process showing vocational responsibility in reasoning and thinking
