Objectives (course unit)
The objective of the course is to familiarise students with the legislative, ethical, and societal principles of journalism, as well as editorial work and the practical production of TV inserts.
After completing the course, the student
- knows the key aspects of legislation and ethical guidelines related to journalism and can find additional information about them
- recognises the societal role of journalism
- understands the main principles of traditional editorial work and production processes for TV insert
- can brainstorm, investigate, visualise, and produce a short TV report or news story within a team under a tight schedule
- is familiar with the typical rapid video insert production tools and can use them in their assigned role.

Journalism's legal framework and ethics.
Brainstorming current topics and information gathering within an editorial team.
Interview situations and preparation for them.
Fundamental tools of TV journalism in news work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student knows the principles of legislation and ethical guidelines concerning journalism. They are familiar with editorial work and production processes. They can carry out a TV insert within a work group in their assigned role, but there are some deficiencies in the implementation.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student knows the main features of legislation and ethical guidelines regarding journalism and can seek further information about them. The student can evaluate the societal role of journalism. They are aware of the basic principles of traditional editorial work and production processes for TV inserts. They can brainstorm, research background information, visualize, and implement a short TV report or news story within a work group on a tight schedule. They are familiar with the typical tools for rapid video insert production and can use them effectively in their assigned role.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student is aware of the main features of legislation and ethical guidelines regarding journalism and actively seeks additional information. They demonstrate a comprehensive and critical evaluation of the societal role of journalism. They show mastery of the basic principles of traditional editorial work and production processes for TV inserts. They can brainstorm, research background information, visualize, and implement a short TV report or news story within a work group on a tight schedule, and take responsibility for the entire group's activities. They are familiar with the typical tools for rapid video insert production and use them smoothly in their assigned role.
