Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to gather equipment needed for the patient’s care is able to check tht the equipment is suitable and safe for use
- is able to admit the patient to the anaesthesia department
- is able to act as an anaesthesia nurse in beginning, maintaining and finishing the patient's anaesthesia
- is able to observe a patient with general and local anaesthesia by collecting information about the patient's physiological condition, analysing the information he/she has collected and making conclusions for patient care
- is able to perform patient’s fluid therapy
- is able to carry out the patient's pharmacotherapy, including medication calculation
- is able to implement the patient's pain management and the various care methods used
- is able to act as an anaesthesia nurse during the postoperative care of the patient
- is able to perform aseptic activity in patient care
- is able to maintain the continuity of care both through oral reports and using manual and electronic documentation
- is able to work as part of an operative team, recognising his/her own responsibility
- is able to work to promote the health of the patient
- is able to assess the development of his/her own professionalism during the supervised practice and to identify in him/herself the need for continuous development

Supervised Clinical Training for Anaesthetised Patients in the Operating Theatre.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Pass
The student
- is able to perform in the induction, planning and implementation phases of anaesthesia, taking into account patient safety from the viewpoint of the particular patient
- is able to plan and implement anaesthesia that enables patient observation and takes into account the requirements of anaesthesia from the particular patient's point of view
- is able to plan and implement anaesthesia based on the application of the principles of aseptic action in the particular patient
- is able to apply the theoretical basis of anaesthesia care in monitoring the anaesthesia for particular patient care

Fail
The student
- does not perceive the anaesthesia nurse's actions in induction, maintaining and finishing the patient's anaesthesia
- is not able to observe and care for a patient with general and local anaesthesia by collecting information about the patient's physiological condition, analysing the information he/she has collected and making conclusions for patient care
- has shortcomings in the skills of fluid therapy and pharmacotherapy
- has shortcomings in pain management
- is unable to act as an anaesthesia nurse in the postoperative phase of the patient’s care
- is not able to perform aseptic care in the patient care
- is not able to maintain the continuity of care, both orally and using manual and electronic documents
- does not know how to act as a team member and does not assess his/her own professional development during the period
