Objectives (course unit)

Students
-are capable of guiding a patient in Swedish in radiography and procedures related to it as well as in radiotherapy
-are able to communicate in multicultural work environments which demand field-specific oral skills
-are able to use articles and texts of radiography and radiotherapy
-can develop their language skills using diverse learning media
-acquire the oral and written language skills in Swedish required of state officials functioning in a position requiring a higher education in a bilingual office (Civil Service Language Proficiency Certificate; the competence level B1 = satisfactory, B2 = good, CEF*)
-The students acquire the written and oral language skills in the second domestic language that are necessary in their professional field, as required by national legislation (352/2003 8§).

Content (course unit)

-patient interview
-guidance and instruction sessions prior to and during radiological examinations and when receiving radiotherapy
-relevant terminology in the field of radiography and radiotherapy
-relevant terminology in anatomy
-research report

Prerequisites (course unit)

Level: Upper Secondary School studies or equivalent skills
Common European Framework for Languages Level B1

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Satisfactory 1 (Level B1.1)
Introduction of vocational know-how and data acquisition:
The student
-can tell the main points of his/her education, practice and work experience briefly in a manner that is mostly understandable
Communication in the work community:
The student
-can communicate briefly with different quarters about procedures related to the patient in a manner that is mostly understandable
-can report the state of the patient briefly with the help of notes and support words
-can communicate clearly in situations that are characteristic of the work community
Guidance:
The student
-can give simple instructions when guiding a patient
-can ask simple questions when conducting a patient interview, but understanding of the answers may produce difficulties
-can tell family members information related to the state of the patient

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Satisfactory 3 (Level B1.2)
Introduction of vocational know-how and data acquisition:
The student
-can tell about his/her education, practice, work experience and know-how in a clear manner
Communication in the work community:
The student
-can communicate with different quarters about procedures related to the patient in a manner that is mostly fluent
-can report the state of the patient in an understandable manner
-can communicate clearly enough in situations that are characteristic of the work community
Guidance:
The student
-can give the most central instructions when guiding a patient
-can ask clarifying questions and answer unpredictable questions when conducting a patient interview
-can discuss the state of the patient with family members fairly well

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Good 5 (Level B2.2-C1)

-can tell about his/her education, practice, work experience and know-how fluently
Communication in the work community:
The student
-can communicate with different quarters about procedures related to the patient independently and versatilely
-can report the state of the patient fluently and versatilely
-can communicate fluently in situations that are characteristic of the work community
Guidance:
The student
-can communicate fluently when guiding a patient
-can ask comprehensive questions and can provide answers to common questions when conducting a patient interview
-can discuss the state of the patient with family members fairly well

Exam schedules

Pienimuotoinen kirjallinen testi kurssin alkuosasta toukokuussa 2025. Arvioidaan hyväksytty / hylätty.

Suullinen tentti syksyllä 2025. Suullinen tentti erillisen aikataulun mukaan.

Assessment methods and criteria

Tentti - Arviointi T1-3 ja H4-5 (ks. tarkemmin kohta arviointikriteerit).
Läsnäolovelvoite 75 % lähiopetuksesta. Jatkuva arviointi.
Aktiivinen osallistuminen työskentelyyn opintojaksolla, suulliset harjoitukset ja suullinen tentti. Opintojaksopalaute on pakollinen osasuoritus.

Learning materials

Opettajan jakamat ja ryhmän kanssa yhteisesti valmistetut materiaalit Moodlessa.

Student workload

Lähiopetus 24 h. Itsenäinen työskentely (läksyt, muut itsenäiset tehtävät) + tenttiin valmistautumiset + tentit yhteensä 57 h.

Tavoitteet:
Opiskelija osaa:
- ohjata potilaita keskeisissä tutkimuksissa ja toimenpiteissä
- osaa hyödyntää radiografiaan ja sädehoitoon liittyviä ruotsinkielisiä asiatekstejä ja artikkeleita
Sisältö:
- potilashaastattelu
- potilaan ohjaus tutkimus- ja hoitotilanteissa
- keskeinen radiografian ja sädehoidon sanasto
- keskeinen anatomian sanasto
- alakohtaiset artikkelit

Suullinen ja kirjallinen kurssi pidetään limittäin toistensa kanssa.
