Objectives (course unit)
Student is able to
- design based on user needs
- apply iterative design methods and produce personas, scenarios, use cases, flow charts, storyboards and prototype
- analyse, design and evaluate user-friendly interactive functionality
- develop interactive media concepts in a user-centered way
- collaborate in an international student team.

User-centered concept development: research, modeling, functional requirements, prototypes, evaluation methods, sustainable development.

Location and time
Course days are mostly organised as contact teaching in Mediapolis. Distance learning days are organised on Zoom. All the course days require active participation, most common learning method is workshop, Lessons are not recorded.

Teaching methods
During the course students design a user-centric concept for mobile application. This course consists lectures, and a lot of Learning by doing. Lessons, team work, presentations, assignments.
Learning materials
The teacher will instruct about learning materials during the course.
Student workload
In addition to lessons and team work the students work with the UX handbook and other assignments as well.
Content scheduling
03.-05.09.2024 Target group understanding and modeling: basics. Desk study. Interview, empathy map and persona.
10.09.2024 & 12.09.2024 Scenario, requirements and POV. Moodboarding. Start-up of storyboarding.
17.09.-19.09.2024 Checking the storyboards. Prototyping and usability testing basics.
24.09.2024. Usability testing exercises. 25.09.2024 Finalizing concept 26.9.2024 Course ending.
Practical training and working life cooperation
The students will connect to the working life through assignments.
