Objectives (course unit)
The course provides skills in the use of wellbeing technology for people of different ages.
The student
• is able to describe and evaluate the potential of welfare technology to maintain wellbeing and promote health.
• is able to find out the needs of different user groups and user experiences for different welfare technology solutions.
• knows methods of developing welfare technologies for the needs of different user groups.
• knows the principles of ethics in the user context of welfare technologies.
• knows and understands the importance of data protection in the context of welfare technologies.

The student
• is able to describe and explain the key concepts, contents and methods of welfare technologies and user-oriented design
• is able to describe methods to identify user needs and is able to co-develop need-based and user-oriented technologies and has tried some of these
• does not actively discuss ethical and data protection issues in the context of welfare technologies
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student
• is able to correctly apply key concepts of welfare technologies and user-centered design and to choose methods for different situations in the development process
• is able to use methods to identify user demands and is able to co-develop technologies
• contributes to the discussion on ethical and data protection issues in the context of welfare technologies
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student
• is able to apply and combine methods to identify user demands and is able co-develop need-based and user-driven technologies
• is able to analyze, document and critically evaluate study results
• is able to contribute constructively to the ethical and data protection discussion in the context of welfare technology and is able to ground their points of view

Exam schedules
At the end of the course, a final exam will be conducted on the learning platform (Moodle). The final numerical grade for the course (0-5) will be based on the exam.

To complete the course, you must have completed all assignments, written the required number of peer reviews, participated in the required number of discussions and passed the final exam.

Teaching methods
Online implementation. The course is fully self-paced and can be completed at your own pace on the learning platform (Moodle). The course consists of six modules, each with its own topic, content and tasks to complete the module.
