Objectives (course unit)

The student
- knows the historical and multidisciplinary background of midwifery
- knows the ethical, legal and scientific basis of midwifery
- is able to describe the expertise and purpose of midwifery in promotion of sexual and reproductive health
- is able to expand own cultural competence
- adapts a culturally sensitive work role in midwifery
- is able to act in a goal-oriented manner and organise activities to find and implement solutions that promote sustainable development

- historical, scientific and ethical basis of midwifery
- legal basis of sexual and reproductive health
- sexology
- promotion of sexual and reproductive health
- cultural competence in midwifery
- cultural sensitivity in midwifery
-perpectives of sustainable development and solutions in midwifery

Prerequisites (course unit)

The student must have completed the nursing studies except the Bachelor’s Thesis. The student cannot participate until Supervised clinical training 1-7 and all theoretical and clinical nursing studies are completed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student
- is able to describe midwifery as a discipline
- identifies the ethical principles and legislative framework for midwifery
- is able to describe the basic concepts of sexual and reproductive health
- is able to describe cultural competences in midwifery
- is able to recognise cultural sensitivity in midwifery
- is able to act in a goal-oriented manner and organise activities to find and implement solutions that promote sustainable development

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student
- is able to describe the evidence based development of midwifery
- knows the ethical principles and legislative framework for midwifery
- has the basic knowledge of sexual and reproductive health
- has basic knowledge of cultural competences in midwifery
- is able to discuss cultural sensitivity in midwifery
-is able to act in a goal-oriented manner and organise activities to find and implement solutions that promote sustainable development

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

- is able to analyse the midwifery science and identifies interfaces with other disciplines
- is able to implement the ethical principles and legislative framework for midwifery
- is able to implement the knowledge of sexual and reproductive health to the midwifery practices
- can apply cultural competences to midwifery
- is able to analyse the meaning of cultural sensitivity in midwifery
- is able to act in a goal-oriented manner and organise activities innovatively to find and implement solutions that promote sustainable development
