Objectives (course unit)
- is able to conduct an independent clinical examination of an injured or suddenly ill patient and is able to perform a related interview and assessment of the status, treatment and medication
- is familiar with the safe use of various examination and treatment tools, immobilisation and medical devices
- knows the documentation, reporting, communication and possible computer-based data transfer of emergency care
- masters the basic skills under supervision to lead the emergency care service and is able to collaborate with different authorities
- follows the ethical guidelines and principles of nursing, acts responsibly as a member of the working group and follows the practical training guidelines
- is able to realistically evaluate his / her own competence and development as an emergency care nurse
Content (course unit)
Advanced Level Emergency Care 4 weeks at outpatient clinics or intensive care unit.
Prerequisites (course unit)
The Basic Skills of Emergency Care must be fully mastered.

Pass
The student
- is able to conduct an independent clinical examination of an injured or suddenly ill patient and is able to perform a related interview and assessment of the status, treatment and medication
- knows the safe use of various examination and treatment tools, immobilisation and medical devices
- knows the documentation, reporting, communication and possible computer-based data transfer of an emergency care patient
- masters the basic skills under supervision to lead the emergency care service and is able to collaborate with different authorities
-follows in his / her own actions the agreed rules of the supervised practical training
-reflects on and assesses his/her own actions realistically and is able to give and receive feedback
Fail
The student
- is not able to manage an independent clinical examination of an injured or suddenly ill patient and is not able to perform a related interview and assessment of the status or emergency care
- does not know the safe use of various examination and treatment tools, immobilisation and medical devices
-incompletely manages the documentation, reporting, communication and possible computer-based data transfer of an emergency care patient
-does not possess the basic skills under supervision to lead the emergency care services and collaborate with different authorities
-ignores in his / her own actions the agreed rules of the supervised practical training (e.g., does not take responsibility for his/her own learning, the goals are missing, does not follow the work schedules, does not inform about absences, the required number of hours of practice are not fulfilled)
- unrealistically assesses his/her own learning and is not able to receive feedbac
