Objectives (course unit)

Student is able to
- name and locate organs
- explain the structure and function of organs and organ systems and their significance to the human body function
- explain the regulation mechanisms of body functions
- define and use anatomical and physiological terms
- utilize and apply the knowledge basis acquired in anatomy and physiology studies to further studies in different fields of bioanalytical science

The structure and function of cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary systems
Reproduction
Regulation systems of the human body: fluid balance and homeostasis, neural and hormonal regulation
Main features of the blood and immune system, structure and function of the musculoskeletal system and sensory system

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student is able to name and locate the organs, and explain their basic structure. The student is able to describe the basic functions of organs and organ systems. The student is able to describe the body's regulatory mechanisms on a general level. The student understands and is able to use the basic terminology of anatomy and physiology that is most relevant for biomedical laboratory technologists.

The students is able to name and locate organs. The student is able to describe the structure and function of the organs well and can tell about the importance of organs and organ systems for the functioning of the human body. The student is able to describe the body's regulatory mechanisms in a variety of ways. The student is able to define and use the terms of anatomy and physiology that are most relevant for biomedical laboratory technologists.

The student is able to name and locate organs. The student is able to describe the structure of the organs in detail and can explain the functions of the organs and organ systems in a variety of ways. The student has a good overall picture of the structure and function of the body and of the interaction and significance of the various organ systems in the overall context. The student is able to describe the body's regulatory mechanisms in detail. The student is able to define and use concepts related to anatomy and physiology in a versatile way.
