Objectives (course unit)

Student
• is able to choose actuators suitable for typical machine automation applications
• masters the basics of hydraulics and pneumatics
• is able to design and dimension pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• knows the basics of proportional and digital hydraulics
• is able to choose the type and model of electric motor and control for the most common applications of machine automation and is able to interpret the control circuit and installation diagrams of electric motors.
• is able to dimension drive operation for machine automation applications
• controls the parameterization of electric motor drives
• is familiar with legislation and standards related to electrical and machine safety

Content (course unit)

• Basics of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Fundamentals of proportional and digital hydraulics
• Electric motors and frequency converters
• Dimensions of actuators in machine automation applications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student masters the basic knowledge of actuator technology, is able to select and dimension the most suitable components for a typical machine automation system. The student performs assisted laboratory and exercise work in actuator technology.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student is well versed in the theory of actuator technology (electric drives, pneumatics, hydraulics). The student is able to independently and reasonably select and dimension the most suitable actuator and control solution for a typical machine automation application. Performs lab and practice work in actuator technology well.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student has an excellent command of the theory of actuator technology (electric drives, pneumatics, hydraulics). The student is able to independently and reasonably select and dimension the most suitable actuator and control solution for the machine automation application. Performs excellent lab and training work in actuator technology.
