Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

Opiskelija
- osaa ääntää suomea jo hyvin
- rohkenee käyttää omantasoistaan suomea myös luokan ulkopuolella saadakseen informaation välitettyä.
- osaa kertoa ympäristöstään ja kuvailla sitä
- kykenee viestimään sekä suullisesti että kirjallisesti arkisista asioista ja on motivoitunut hoitoalan kielen opiskeluun
- ymmärtää yksinkertaista puhetta ja yksinkertaisia viestejä arkisista asioista
- ymmärtää yksinkertaisia tekstejä, joissa on tavanomaista sanastoa
- osaa kirjoittaa lyhyitä tekstejä ja luettelomaisia kuvauksia tutuista asioista ja tapahtumista
• on aktiivinen toimija suomen kielellä erilaissa arjen tilanteissa, esimerkiksi asioinnissa ja terveydenhuollossa
• on omaksunut mielekkäät työskentelytavat kielen oppimisessa ja käyttää suomea myös luokan ulkopuolella

Sisältö (Opintojakso)

- kehitetään tekstilajitietoisuutta esimerkkiteksteihin perehtymällä
- kohdekielisen ympäristön hyödyntäminen erilaisissa viestintätilanteissa
- luku- ja kuuntelu- ja viestintästrategiat, esim. kiertoilmausten käyttö
- kielen keskeiset rakenteet
- ammattisanastoon ja oman alan viestintätilanteisiin perehtyminen

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1-2) (Opintojakso)

Opiskelija on tehnyt hyväksyttävästi kaikki kurssitehtävät. Hän osaa kertoa tavoitteena olevista sisällöistä, mutta ilmaisu on suppeaa sekä rakenteissa on virheitä. Opiskelija kykenee käymään lyhyitä keskusteluja suomeksi. Opiskelijan ääntäminen on vielä puutteellista.

Arviointikriteerit, hyvä (3-4) (Opintojakso)

Opiskelija opiskelee suomea aktiivisuutta osoittaen ja tekee kurssitehtävänsäkin aikataulun mukaan. Kurssiin kuuluvat pikku keskustelut luonnistuvat häneltä hyvin. Hän kykenee kirjoittamaan lyhyitä ympäristöönsä ja tulevaan ammattiinsa liittyviä tekstejä.

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5) (Opintojakso)

Opiskelijalla on positiivinen ja aktiivinen asenne kielenopiskelua kohtaan. Hän ääntää suomea selkeästi ja osaa käyttää sopivia, vaihtoehtoisia ilmauksia vuorovaikutuksessaan sekä muodostaa yleensä kieliopillisesti oikeita lauseita. Hän osaa luontevasti kertoen, kysyen ja vastaillen ottaa osaa keskusteluihin aiheista, joita on käsitelty kurssin aikana. Hän kykenee kirjoittamaan kuvauksia tai selostuksia ja hyödyntää oppimiaan sanoja ja ilmauksia uusissa yhteyksissä.

Written exam will be held on 23rd of November. If needed, you can attend a renewal exam on Dec 1st.

In addition to this, you should attend the spoken exam on one of the following days:
25th of November
29th of November

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

The student will be evaluated based on the following course work:
- the spoken exam (a simulated patient discussion, 40 % weight)
- the written exam ("listen and write" exam, 30 % weight)
- the average of language test scores and homework activity (30 % weight)

In addition to this, the student should be available and present at least 80 % of the classroom time and 100 % of the exam time.

Opiskelumuodot ja opetusmenetelmät

You will have classroom meetings, homework exercises, language tests, and a final exam in the course. You will practice vocabularly, grammar, speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing.

The goal is to extend your knowledge in basic Finnish, and also provide a rudimentary basis for professional language use in the nursing field.

N.B.! The course is not available for students outside the preselected groups. If you are looking for a Finnish course, and do not know where to find one, I recommend that you will contact Ella Hakala (ella.hakala@tuni.fi).

If you have an access to Suomen mestari 1, you can use it in the course. However, the use of a book is not required.

Arviointikriteerit - hylätty (0) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

You face the risk of failing the course in the following situations:

- You do not reach the minimum success level (30 %) in the course work.
- You miss a few too many classroom meetings, and do not ask for compensatory work.
- You miss so many classroom meetings that your participation can not be accepted anymore.
- You try and attend classroom meetings but cause too much disturbance to be there.
- You miss one or both exams without notifying the teacher.

You will automatically fail the course if you have too many absences, and can not showcase at least grade 4 level of success in the exam. In other cases, the teacher will evaluated on an individual basis what will happen to the student's course participation.

The criteria for grade 2: 45-59 % success level in the course work
The criteria for grade 1: 30-44 % success level in the course work

In practice, this means that the student is able to showcase following skills on a rather advanced or at least rudimentary level:

- The students know how to describe health symptoms and background factors, and how to ask questions about them.
- The student is able to describe what, where, and when something happened.
- The student is able to comprehend basic depictions of health-related events and symptoms.
- The student is able to demonstrate their knowledge of Finnish grammar, vocabulary, and language conventions in both the final exam and earlier language tests.

Arviointikriteerit - hyvä (3-4) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

The criteria for grade 4: 75-89 % success level in the course work
The criteria for grade 3: 60-74 % success level in the course work

In practice, this means that the student is able to showcase following skills on a rather advanced or at least rudimentary level:

- The students know how to describe health symptoms and background factors, and how to ask questions about them.
- The student is able to describe what, where, and when something happened.
- The student is able to comprehend basic depictions of health-related events and symptoms.
- The student is able to demonstrate their knowledge of Finnish grammar, vocabulary, and language conventions in both the final exam and earlier language tests.
