Objectives (course unit)

Students is able to
- know the standards of reliable sample taking
- produce good-quality basic blood transfusion serology examinations with tube and column methods taking preanalytic factors into consideration in accordance with working instructions
- know blood transfusion practices
- know clinically significant antibodies and adverse effects and dangers related to blood transfusion
- know the responsibility areas of the blood services, hospital blood bank, and nursing unit in implementation of safe blood transfusion
- know use of diverse blood products
- know directions related to blood transfusion
- know special circumstances concerning blood transfusion
