Objectives (course unit)
Students can aurally analyse and transcribe tonal and free-tonal melodies. Students have a command of irregular rhythm patterns and varying time signatures and has become acquainted with polyrhythms. Students are capable of aural analysis of music from different periods with the help of theoretical knowledge. Students have the ability to apply their knowledge and skills of music analysis in practice.

Melody
- singing and dictations of free-tonal melodies and melodies based on synthetic scales and free chordal combinations
- developing the ability to aurally analyse music for several voices
Harmony
- dictations and aural examples of modulating tonal harmony
- an introduction to free-tonality
Rhythm
- singing and dictations of irregular rhythm patterns and time signatures
- an introduction to polyrhythms
