Objectives (course unit)
Student is able to use experimental presentation practices of video art.
Student is able to use space-oriented approaches in video installations. Student is able to collaborate in an international student team.
Content (course unit)
Student experiments with video installations.
Student makes a video installation for a given space or presentation context with sculptural or architectural elements.

Basics of the subject.

Minimum 80% attendance in contact studies. Active participation in the course. Artistic and technical standard of accomplished work.

Completion alternatives
It is mandatory to be present 80 % on the contact lessons but if you cannot be present total 80 % you can negotiate with Sari Tervaniemi what could be an extra task to pass the course.
Further information
Requirements: Fluent spoken and written English, Introduction to Moving Image -course passed, student has skills to discuss basic Contemporary Art Methods and basic understanding of discourses on contemporary art theories and narratives in moving image.
During the course student will develop their own video artwork, which will be screened during the International week 15 at Kino (the big auditorium in the first floor), Mediapolis.
Courses of Moving Image –module in Fine Art programme are planned for the Fine Art path –students, which means that they are not courses to learn technical skills in the first hand, quite on the contrary they emphasize critical thinking, careful planning of a project as well as experimental approach in producing a moving image project to the contemporary art scene.
Students are encouraged to work as a team in order to learn to collaborate and help each other as visual artists do in their artists’ collectives. One of the teaching methods is problem based learning, which develops skills to find creative solutions in a video project.
