Objectives
The student is able to
- instruct the patient for clinical physiology examinations in a client-oriented manner, taking into consideration the preparation instructions
- look after patient safety and wellbeing during the examination
- record an ECG, measure blood pressure, and evaluate the reliability of the results based on reference values
- identify normal ECG patterns and the most common abnormalities
- know the sources of error in ECG registration
- identify and eliminate ECG artefacts
- identify ECG findings that require immediate attention
- perform ECG registrations using additional leads
- know the basics of clinical exercise test
- understand the purpose of ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitoring
- observe the principles of quality control

Prerequisites
Study module Anatomy and Physiology 7B00ET97 must be completed before the course.

The student
- is able to define the basic concepts and explain the basic examinations related to the study module
- performs the tasks of the study module according to work instructions
- shows limited preparation for training lessons and assignments
- takes responsibility for his/her own performance
- can identify normal findings
- participates satisfactorily in group tasks
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student
- analyses concepts related to clinical physiology examinations
- can apply the acquired knowledge in the performance of basic examinations
- can identify normal findings and some abnormalities
- works carefully, systematically and reliably
- takes responsibility and engages in both individual work and group activities
- participates in given tasks as a member of the group
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student
- analyses the relations between concepts related to clinical physiology examinations
- develops his/her own vocational know-how in a goal-oriented and diverse way
- can apply and evaluate his/her acquired knowledge in the performance of basic examinations
- can identify normal findings and the most common abnormalities well
- participates in given tasks responsibly and constructively as a member of the group
