Objectives
-is able to apply medical and pharmacological knowledge in emergency care
-recognizes acute illnesses, knows the pathophysiology of the diseases and is able to examine and take care of the patients outside the hospital and during transportation
-is able to examine and treat traumatically injured patients outside the hospital and during transportation
-knows the therapeutic effects and appropriate use of medications and fluids used in emergency care
-knows the available equipment and different procedures required in airway management
-is able to apply the knowledge of forensic medicine and pathology in emergency situations

Prerequisites
At the beginning of Advanced Level Emergency Care studies, the student must have completed 140 credits of studies. These should include studies in Anatomy and Physiology, The Basic Level Emergency Care skills and Supervised Clinical Trainings 1-5.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

-knows acute illnesses and the pathophysiology of most diseases and is able to examine and take care of the patients according to the protocol outside the hospital and during transportation
-is able to examine and treat traumatically injured patients according to the protocol outside the hospital and during transportation
-knows the therapeutic effects and appropriate use of most medications and fluids used in emergency care
-knows the available equipment and most procedures required in airway management
-knows the role of forensic medicine and pathology in emergency situations
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
-understands the role of medical and pharmacological knowledge in emergency care
-recognizes acute illnesses, knows the pathophysiology of the diseases and is able to examine and take care of the patients holistically outside the hospital and during transportation
-is able to examine and treat holistically traumatically injured patients outside the hospital and during transportation
-knows the therapeutic effects and appropriate and safe use of medications and fluids used in emergency care
-knows and is able to use the available equipment and different procedures required in airway management
-is able to apply the knowledge of forensic medicine and pathology in emergency situations
