Objectives

The student
- masters safe medication process and ethical medication principles in acute nursing;
- mastesr national medication guidelines and recommendations;
- is able to apply his/her pharmacology and medication competence in different operating environments of acute nursing;
- masters the most common medicines used in acute nursing
- deepens his/her basic knowledge and skills in the field of medicine in the treatment of an acutely ill patient
- is familiar with the special issues of acute medicine and is able to apply medical information in medical treatment in various acute care situations as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- is able to treat a patient with an acute illness by methods of medical treatment based on theoretical and research data used in his / her field
- recognizes the limits of his / her own professional skills and responsibilities in medical treatment and is able to apply the necessary comprehensive, advanced and research-based methods to assess the patient's need for medication, to implement medication and to monitor and evaluate the effects of treatment.

Content

Pharmacology
- safe medication and medication management plan
- most common medicines used in acute nursing, their pharmacokinetics, dynamics and toxicology
- interaction of medicines and polypharmacy
Medication
- heart and circulation: coronary artery diseases, cardiac insufficiency, atrial fibrillation, hypertension cerebral circulatory disorders
- respiratory and endocrine diseases: acute asthmatic attack, anaphylactic shock, HAE, infectious diseases, diabetes, acute pancreatitis, acute abdominal pain
-special challenges in medication in the following groups or cases: elderly patients, fragility, children, AKI, chemotherapy, abuse of alcohol and/or medication, drugs.

Pharmacology
The student
- master the basics of pharmacology
- knows the indications for the use of drugs, and recognizes some of the side effects typical of drug groups.

Medication
Medication plans or other written paper: fulfills the criteria of the medication plan, contains the basic knowledge of the chosen topic.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Pharmacology
The student
- master the basics of pharmacology
- knows the indications of drugs use
- knows the typical side effects of the drug groups, some effect mechanisms of the drug groups, and the interactions

Medication
Medication plan or written paper: shows in the summary putting knowledge into practice, includes ability of applying knowledge in practice.

Pharmacology
The student
- is able to apply information on pharmacology, indications of use of drugs, side effects of drugs and effect mechanisms and interactions of drug groups

Medication
Medication plan or written paper: is applicable also on national level, content level is high and could lead to publishing in some national professional publication.
