Objectives

The aim of the course is to strengthen and develop expertise in clinical physiology and neurophysiology through practical training.

After completion of the course the student:
• guides patients and other healthcare personnel in clinical physiology and neurophysiology examinations, considering pre-analytical factors
• performs reliable and client-centered examinations of the heart, circulation, and lung function
• understands the principles of performing key clinical neurophysiology examinations
• takes patient well-being and safety into account during examinations
• understands and adheres to principles of quality management in clinical physiology and neurophysiology work
• gains proficiency in evaluating results and their clinical significance
• develops skills to work in various interactional situations and multiprofessional work environments
• applies previously acquired knowledge in practical tasks and assess their own professional development during the practical training.

Prerequisites

Before starting the practical training, students are required to have sufficient theoretical knowledge in clinical physiology, nuclear medicine, and neurophysiology.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Pass: The student can apply their theoretical knowledge when participating in various tasks during the internship. They can instruct patients in examinations and perform basic tests with guidance. The student can assess the quality and reliability of the results. They prioritize patient well-being as well as workplace and patient safety in their work. The student follows directions and actively participates in the practical training as a responsible member of the team. They utilize feedback received and can assess their own professional development during the practical training.

Fail: The student does not meet the criteria for a passing grade.
