Location and time

Wednesdays at 12.30 p.m. in different rooms according to the schedule on Pakki.

Exam schedules

Written exam on the 13th of December 2023.
Resit in EXAM Tuni in January as agreed.

Presentations on the 25th of October.

Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation is based on completion of required assignments during the course. These are for example:
- video CV
- presentation individually or in pairs
- assignment on scientific writing
- final written exam

Inadequacy in attendance may affect your grade or prevent you from sitting the final exam.
There is ongoing evaluation on the course.

Independent portfolio for those with proficiency in English i.e. grade 4-5 from previous courses.

Let the teacher know at the start of the course if you have a Proposal for Individual Study Arrangements e.g. dyslexia.

There is an attendance policy of 80% i.e. you can be absent max. three times. Let the teacher know if you cannot make it to the class and ask your classmates aftrwards about the class. Homework is always published on Moodle. Absencies cannot be compensated with extra assignments.

The student
- completes obligatory assignments.
- can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
- can write a simple job application
- is aware of the main features of scientific writing style
- is able to read and understand main points in a research article related to their field
- can give a brief, comprehensible presentation related to the field of study with some aid
- communicates with the most elementary grammatical structures
- pronounces mostly in an understandable manner

Assessment criteria - good (3-4) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

The student
- completes obligatory assignments.
- interacts with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible.
- presents clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects.
- is able to write quite flawless job applications and other formal documents
- can understand and summarize a research article related to their field.
- can give a professional, detailed presentation with a degree of fluency
- pronounces in a comprehensible manner
- utilizes diverse grammatical structures and corrects their own errors while speaking

The student:
- can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
- is able to understand and summarize a research article related to their field along with their own reflections on it
- is able to formulate ideas and opinions with precision and relate his/her contribution skillfully to those of other speakers.
- can present clear, detailed descriptions of complex subjects integrating sub-themes, developing particular points and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion
- can write nuanced, logical and flawless formal documents such as job application
- can select a style appropriate to the reader in mind
- can give a captivating, fluent presentation on a professional topic
- uses complex grammatical structures with ease
