Choral Conducting 3 (10 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

Student shows development in their work as an artistic director of a choir. He/she is able to shape the sound of an ambitious amateur choir. A student hears and locates details in the sound of a choir and shapes them using appropriate training methods and conducting technique. A Student is capable of performing a selection of B-level repertoire in a public concert.

Content (course unit)

Conducting technique: technically skilled, expressive and communicative gestures.
Rehearsing methods: Different rehearsing approaches on voice training, tuning a choir, shaping choral sound and choral psychology and pedagogy.
Analysis of different styles of choral scores and playing choral scores.
Rehearsing and conducting a choir, even an own established one.

Studying a wide range of choral repertoire on B-level and mastering it technically and artisticly. Concert performance.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Opiskelija on osallistunut opetukseen ja suorittaa vaaditun edistymisnäytteen. Hylätyssä suorituksessa toinen osa-alueista ei toteudu.

Location and time

Yksilöopetus sovitaan opettajan kanssa.

Itse- ja vertaisarviointi. Keväällä näyttö vokaaliyhtyeen harjoituksessa.

Kuoronjohdon yksilöopetus pääaineisille kuoronjohtajille.
Harjoittelun ohjausta videopalautteen avulla.

Learning materials

N. 10 teoksen ohjelma eri aikakausilta renessanssista 2000-luvun musiikkiin sisältäen lapsikuoro-ohjelmistoa. Ohjelmistokokonaisuus sovitaan opettajan kanssa.

Student workload

Yksilöopetus 14x45 min, minkä lisäksi opiskelijan työtä partituurianalyysin ja johtamistekniikan harjoittamisen alalla.

Practical training and working life cooperation

Harjoittelu kuoronjohdon vokaaliyhtyeessä tiistaisin Satamakadun salissa. Lisäksi harjoittelua opiskelijan omassa kuorossa.
