Objectives (course unit)

The student knows the basics of dynamic behavior of rigid body structures and is able to use his/her skills to analyse vibration problems and to avoid mechanical vibration problems. The student will be able to form the basic formulas for analysing the vibration and forces and moments in rigid bodies in case of discrete systems, with or without damping and free or forced vibration.

Content (course unit)

The basics of dynamic behavior of rigid body strutures, nature of mechanical vibration, discrete systems, damping, free and forced vibration, construction of equations of motion by using Newton and Lagrange methods.

Prerequisites (course unit)

Prerequisites: Student knows the principles of dynamics and statics and is able to use mathematical calculation programs.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student recognizes the laws governing the dynamic behavior of the mechanical system and is able to use them to avoid vibration problems. Is able to create motion equations and analyze the following parts of vibration mechanics with the help of them.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student knows the laws governing the dynamic behavior of the mechanical system and is able to use them to avoid vibration problems. Is able to create motion equations and can analyze the following parts of vibration mechanics with them.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Students are familiar with the laws governing the dynamic behavior of the mechanical system and are able to use them to avoid vibration problems. Is able to create motion equations and can use them to analyze the following components of vibration mechanics in solving mechanical problems.
