Objectives (course unit)
Have you wondered what GDPR, IPR, IT2022 or NDA mean, or have you wondered how artificial intelligence is regulated? The course offers an opportunity to get to know the ICT industry from a legal perspective, develop to solve the problems of the industry and learn to apply jurisprudence in practice.
The goal of the course is to develop competence in the application of regulations concerning the ICT sector.
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to
• identify and present the key aspects of regulation and contracts used in the ICT industry.
• apply contractual and informational legal norms into practice and justify their decisions.
• consider ethics, responsibility, and professional collaboration in their actions.
Content (course unit)
• Basics of legal system and legal information retrieval
• Formation, termination, and invalidity of contracts
• Types of contracts in the ICT sector, standard terms in the IT sector, and dispute resolution
• Regulation of information, intellectual property rights, artificial intelligence, and public procurement
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student is familiar with the general principles and rules guiding contract operations.
The student is knowledgeable about the main aspects related to contracts and the contract negotiation process in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) sector.
The student is aware of the fundamental issues related to copyright in the online environment and computer software.
The student is familiar with the key regulations concerning the processing of personal data and privacy protection.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student is familiar with the main theories of general contract law and masters the general principles and rules guiding contract operations.
The student is able to identify the specific characteristics related to contracts and the contract negotiation process in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) sector.
The student understands the significance of copyright legislation in the online environment and as a legal basis for software protection.
The student knows the basic regulations concerning the processing of personal data and privacy protection and can take them into account in the organization's own operations and when outsourcing services.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student understands the significance of the main theories of general contract law and the general principles and rules guiding contract operations, and can evaluate their impact on practical contract operations.
The student can critically evaluate various ICT contracts and the contract negotiation process.
The student can critically assess the significance of copyright legislation in the online environment and as a legal basis for software protection.
The student understands the importance of regulations concerning the processing of personal data and privacy protection and can take them into account in the organization's own operations and when outsourcing services.
