- work safely in biochemistry laboratory
- utilize the most common laboratory devices and equipment used in the biochemistry laboratory
- perform analyses using most common biochemical methods
- document the laboratory work clearly to laboratory notebook and report the results in the form of a laboratory report
Content (course unit)
- Protein and enzymatic analyses
Prerequisites (course unit)
Biochemistry (5O00CV15) or equivalent
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
Students are able to carry out analyses using the most common biochemical methods with guidance. Students understand the principles of the analysis methods at the basic level. Students report the results obtained but their interpretation of the results may have significant shortcomings. There are shortcoming in the students' laboratory working skills. The student participates in the group work.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
Students are able to carry out analyses using the most common biochemical methods. Students are capable of self-directed work in the laboratory using mainly written instructions and are able to plan and schedule their work. Students understand the principles of the analysis methods and are able to interpret the results obtained and evaluate their reliability. Students are able to report the results clearly. Students work in the laboratory skillfully. The student is capable of working in a group, and is able to plan the laboratory work.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
Students are able to competently carry out analyses using biochemical methods presented in the course. Students are capable of self-directed and well-planned working in the laboratory with the help of written instructions. In their lab work students show their problem solving and organizational skills. Students can explain the principles of the analysis methods in detail. The students are able to interpret their results in a versatile and critical manner and assess their reliability and evaluate their reliability. Students are able to report the results with expertise, compare them to literature. The student is capable of working in a group in a targed-oriented manner, and is able to organise the laboratory work.
