The student
- knows what science and nursing science are
- is aware of the meaning of other sciences for nursing science and nursing practice
- knows the historical bases behind the current state of the field
- understands the meaning of nursing science in nursing practice and social decision-making
- knows the basics of scientific argumentation and evidence-based thinking.

Content (course unit)

- science, nursing science and its relationship to other sciences
- the historical development of nursing science
- recent nursing research as a basis for nursing practice and science
- using nursing science in decision-making in social and health care in society
- basis for scientific argumentation and evidence-based practice
