Objectives (course unit)

1. Bachelor of Social Services in Work with Senior Citizens and the Aged
Students
- are able to analyse their individual and professional identity in working with senior citizens and the aged
- adssopt the ethical values of work with the aged
2. Elderly People as Clients of Social and Health Care Services
Students
- can analyse and understand old age and ageing with the help of gerontological theories
- can apply gerontological information and principles of empowerment in work with senior citizens and the aged
3. Methods and Approaches to Work with Elderly Clients
Students
- can explain the process and experiences of ageing from the perspective of individuals, community, society and cultures
- can apply different methods and approaches to work with clients
- comprehend case management with senior citizens and elderly people
- are familiar with the most common memory disorders and can apply different work methods with memory disorder patients
- can apply different methods of client work in individual and group counselling
