Objectives
Acute Medicine 2 cr
The student
- deepens his/her basic knowledge and skills in the field of medicine in the treatment of an acutely ill patient
- becomes acquainted with specific issues of acute medicine and is able to apply medical knowledge in various acute care situations as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- identifies the limits of one's own professional competence and area of responsibility in patient care and is able to apply the necessary comprehensive, advanced and research-based methods in assessing the need for treatment, implementing treatment and monitoring and evaluating the effects of treatment
- is able to apply his/her knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in different environments of acute nursing
Special Issues in Pharmacology 3 cr
The student
- masters the safe pharmacotherapy process and the ethical principles of pharmacotherapy in acute nursing
- masters national guidelines and recommendations governing pharmacotherapy
- masters the most common drugs used in acute nursing
- is able to treat an acutely ill patient with pharmacotherapy methods based on theoretical and research data used in his / her field
- identifies the limits of one's professional competence and area of responsibility in pharmacotherapy and is able to apply the necessary comprehensive, advanced and research-based methods in assessing the patient's need for pharmacotherapy, implementing medication and monitoring and evaluating the effects of treatment

Acute Medicine 2 cr
- examinations and findings of the patient, assessment of the need for treatment
- the most common diseases and exacerbations of chronic diseases and their treatment in acute nursinf
- treatment of patients with injuries
- application of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy expertise in different acute nursing settings as part of holistic patient care
Special Issues in Pharmacology 3 cr
- safe medication and medication plan
- the most common drugs used in acute nursing, their pharmacokinetics and dynamics, and toxicology
- the most common poisonings and their drug treatment
- drug interactions and polypharmacy
- drug treatment of acute and chronic disease exacerbations, including e.g. cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases and hormonal diseases, as well as special situations of other diseases
