Description
ELIGIBILITY
The advanced Master's degree in construction is intended for persons who have completed a bachelor's degree in construction engineering, bachelor's degree in construction management, a vocational higher degree in construction engineering, a master's degree in construction, or a similar foreign higher education degree, and who have accumulated at least two years of work experience from the relevant field after the aforementioned degree. For those who have completed an engineering degree, the scope of studies is 60 credits, and for those with a bachelor's degree in construction management 90 credits.
KNOWLEDGE PRODUCED BY THE DEGREE PROGRAMME
The goal of the degree program is to deepen the knowledge and skills of construction project management. The degree gives you the skills to work in demanding expert positions in construction projects. These include, for example, the management of a construction project, research and innovation activities, and the management of various development projects. Major changes are taking place in the construction industry, for example with energy efficiency, digitalization and low carbon. New types of projects and production control processes challenge the traditional way of working.
The content of the education consists of the student's personal development task, i.e. the thesis 30 credits, advanced studies 25 credits and optional studies 5 credits. Students with the bechelor's degree in construction management basic education complete another 30 credits of supplementary studies.
PLACEMENT OF THE GRADUATES IN THE WORKING LIFE
Graduates of the education are placed in demanding management and expert positions in companies or organizations in the construction, real estate, and building technology sectors. They can act e.g. as project managers in construction planning or development projects.
Curriculum development and working life cooperation
The utkinto program has been built in cooperation with companies in the construction industry in accordance with the needs of working life. During the studies, a working life-oriented thesis is prepared. Studies can also be completed alongside work.
Further information
The degree is a higher university degree and it qualifies for public office and doctoral studies. The degree meets the qualifications and skills criteria of the Finnish national qualification system and the European qualification reference framework (EQF level 7).
