The degree is a bachelor-level professional higher education degree.
The degree complies with the criteria set by the Finnish national degree system as well as with the European framework for degrees and other competence.

Key Learning Outcomes

The annual themes of studies are
1st year theme: Need: The business of building services engineering, basic engineering skills and finding out your own learning needs.
2nd year theme: Draft: Energy efficient building services in a residential building and working as a member of a team.
3rd year theme: Implementation: Energy efficient office premises, improving the learning principles behind “finding out” and working responsibly in different groups.
4th year theme: Use and maintenance: Use and maintenance of building services and managing entities.
During the third and fourth year of study you may choose a module to direct or supplement your own study path. You may also choose to take part in foreign exchange or work in company projects.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Building services engineering is needed in both new construction and renovation projects. One of the greatest areas are the tasks in building maintenance and use. After graduation you may find work as
•building services designer
•expert or supervisor tasks in contract work
•system commissioning and maintenance tasks
•device construction and sales
•supervision and authority tasks
•real estate manager tasks.
As you gain more experience, you can progress in your career into supervision, management or demanding expert tasks. You may either concentrate on a single field or educate yourself into a versatile expert. A professional in building services engineering may be employed by a small or a large company or become an entrepreneur themselves.
