Objectives

The student is able to
- determine the basic concepts of heat transfer and fluid dynamics
- identify the most common pipe fittings
- apply fluid dynamics to the design and the fluid dynamic balancing of building services networks

Content

Basic concepts of heat transfer and fluid dynamics. Design of building services networks and fluid dynamic balancing. Design of piping in closed and open loops with the help of design diagrams and calculus. Pipe fittings causing single resistance. The performance characteristics and characteristic curves of heat exchangers, pumps and fans, connection loss.
