Description
You will graduate from the degree program in Business Economics as a Bachelor of Business Administration with up-to-date fundamental knowledge in the field and specialized expertise in legal matters related to various aspects of business and society.
Business graduates with legal expertise are highly valued in the job market. Possible career roles include legal specialist (e.g., paralegal), financial advisor, claims handler, investment expert, public guardian, enforcement inspector, notary, court clerk, legal assistant, administrative or financial manager, or other specialist and managerial positions in business and the public sector requiring expertise in both business and law.
As a legal specialist, you will be able to critically evaluate legal regulations and information across various societal domains. You will also possess the skills to apply current legislation and provide well-founded solutions to legal problems.
These studies have been designed in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice. Legal Business Administration studies are offered not only at TAMK but also at a few other universities of applied sciences.
Content
The education is delivered through a blended learning approach, consisting of both in-person and online studies. Your learning will be based on coaching pedagogy, with your own coach and coaching group for support. Distance learning involves independent study through literature and various learning assignments, as well as online learning using digital tools and remote communication. You can integrate your studies with your current job through projects, development tasks, your thesis, and internships, especially if your work is in line with the content of the Business Administration studies.
You can also receive credits for relevant previous university studies and prior knowledge. You have the opportunity to earn credits for internships or complete them in your own workplace if the work is in the field of Business Administration and corresponds to the level of Business Administration studies.
Structure of Studies
The extent of the Bachelor's degree is 210 ECTS credits. The completion time for the degree is 3.5 years, but it can be shorter depending on your prior knowledge and the pace of your studies. The degree consists of the following components: basic and professional studies (120 ECTS), elective professional studies (30 ECTS), freely selectable studies (15 ECTS), internship (30 ECTS), and the thesis (15 ECTS).
Thesis
In your thesis, you will demonstrate your ability to independently apply your knowledge and skills in a practical expert task related to your studies. The thesis is a planning or development project commissioned by a company or organization. You will choose the topic for your thesis yourself. The thesis can also be done as a group project and may involve different fields, but it should still be related to legal expertise.
Career Opportunities
Possible career roles include legal specialist (e.g., paralegal), financial advisor, claims handler, investment expert, general advocate, enforcement inspector, notary, court clerk, legal assistant, administrative or financial manager, or other specialist and managerial positions in business and the public sector requiring expertise in both business and law.
Internationalization
As a TAMK student, you can complete part of your degree abroad at our partner universities, which are located in over 50 countries worldwide. You can also secure an internship position anywhere in the world. TAMK maintains an international atmosphere with hundreds of foreign degree and exchange students from all around the world. Other ways to gain language and cultural skills include language courses, mentoring foreign students, host family activities, English-language study modules, and international projects and initiatives.
Further Study Opportunities
After completing the degree and gaining at least two years of work experience in the field, you have the option to apply for a Master's degree at a university of applied sciences. This education also opens doors to continue your studies in Master's programs at universities, for example.

Upon graduating from the part-time implementation of the Business Economics program, you will have a comprehensive and up-to-date foundational knowledge in the field of business economics, along with specialized expertise in legal matters. You will be capable of functioning within multicultural networks as a developer in your field, employing innovative digital methods and tools. Additionally, you will possess the skills to evaluate and enhance both your own and your workplace's expertise.
During your education, you will gain an understanding of how various aspects of business operate and how they can be developed within a digital and international context. You will acquire the latest tools and applications in the field. Through practical work projects, events, and internships, you will build connections and establish your network within both the private and public sectors.

As a degree student at TAMK, you have the opportunity to choose courses from Tampere University according to your personal study plan. Through this cross-study approach, you can participate in university courses, joint projects, and thus build your individual expertise. You can also complete courses at other universities through the national course offering.
