Students
- can evaluate validity of samples
- know use and purpose of point of care testing in health care
- know methods and operational principles of devices used in point of care testing
- can use and maintain the most common point of care testing devices and equipment
- know principles of testing point of care testing devices
- know quality control methods and practices in point of care testing
- can interpret quality control results as regards functionality of tests and reliability of results
- can guide clients and other health care professionals in issues concerning sample taking and point of care testing
- know basics of information technology concerning sampling process and point of care testing
- understand the meaning of laboratory quality standards, systems and recommendations in sample taking and point of care testing
- can evaluate and develop their sampling skills
- recognize development needs of point of care testing and try to find solution alternatives for them in multiprofessional work community

Applications of information technology used in sampling and point of care testing
Point of care testing and its use in health care
Methods, devices and measurement principles of point of care testing
Testing, introduction, use and maintenance of point of care devices
Quality assurance, quality objectives, and laboratory quality standards, quality systems and recommendations concerning sampling and point of care testing

Prerequisites

The student must have passed 7B00BB78 Preanalytics and Sampling before the course 7B00BB79.
