The student
- is able, under supervision, to define his/her own patient's nursing needs; to plan, implement and evaluate the patient’s nursing care in a client-oriented and health-promoting manner as well as gaining experience in the patient’s whole care path, including discharge and planning for continuing care
- is able to meet the patient, family and colleagues in an appropriate and respectful manner and is capable of professional interaction with the patient and the members of the work group
- knows the essential knowledge and skills required for nursing in the care environment and is able to ethically carry out safe and high-quality nursing care based on evidence
- masters the principles of infection control and working aseptically
- is able, under supervision, to safely carry out the patient's drug and fluid therapy
- is able, under supervision, to observe the patient's basic vital signs and based on them gains experience for decision-making
- gains practice in guiding patients and promoting their safety at all stages of the nursing process
- follows the ethical guidelines and principles of nursing, acts responsibly as a member of the working group and follows the practical training guidelines
- is able to evaluate his/her own knowledge and development realistically.
Sisältö
- holistic nursing care
- supervised clinical training 4 weeks
When choosing placements for nursing practical training 1-5, different areas of nursing will be taken into account. Internships to develop the skills necesary for somatic, mental health and substance abuse care will be performed in primary health care, specialized medical care, on a ward and in open health care.

Pharmacotherapy and Medical Calculations, Orientation to Clinical Training: Basics of Clinical Nursing and Orientation to Clinical Training: Medication completed.
Participation in course on Infection Control and after the student has participated in both theoretical nursing studies and the orientation to clinical training courses involving his/her chosen area of specialization, he/she can go to the supervised practical training.

- knows the basic knowledge of nursing, recognizes the lack of knowledge in him/herself and actively seeks for information
- knows the patient's care path
- possesses the essential clinical skills of nursing
- masters the principles of infection control and working aseptically
- is able to safely implement the patient's drug and fluid therapy
- is able to observe the patient's basic vital functions and is trained in the related decision-making
- meets the patient, family, and the members of work group in an appropriate and respectful manner and is able to interact with the patient and the work community members
- is able to plan, implement and evaluate client-oriented care of his/ her own patient
- makes an approved nursing care plan and a nursing summary for his/her own patient
- aims to take into account the aspects of health promotion in patient care
- participates in patient guidance
- promotes patient safety at all stages of the care process
- works responsibly, recognizing the limits of his/ her expertise
- follows the confidentiality and data protection guidelines
- follows in his / her actions the agreed rules of
the supervised practical training
- reflects and evaluates his/her own activities realistically and is able to give and receive feedback
Fail
There are obvious shortcomings in basic knowledge about nursing; searching for and utilising knowledge is incomplete, and even after a tutorial discussion there are misunderstandings in the theoretical knowledge
The student
- does not know the patient's care path
- does not demonstrate under supervision the essential clinical skills of patient care
- does not master the principles of infection control and aseptic procedures
- makes mistakes in the patient's medicine and fluid therapy despite being supervised; has not completed a medical treatment passport
- is not able to observe the patient's basic vital function and condition
- displays inadequate planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment
- the patient's nursing care plan and summary don’t show the patient's whole situation
- displays a lack of understanding of professional interface: treats patients, family, or members of the work group inappropriately or disrespectfully and is not able to interact with them
- does not show interest in patient guidance and withdraws from it
- violates confidentiality or patient privacy
- does not recognize the boundaries of his/her expertise, endangering patient safety
- fails to follow the agreed rules for supervised practice (e.g., takes no responsibility for his/her own learning; the goals are missing; does not
follow the working hours, does not report his/ her absences, and/or the total amount of required hours is not fulfilled)
- evaluates her/his own competence unrealistically and is unable to receive feedback
