Study Guide

Objectives

In the study course, the student develops his/her competence in the work of promoting the health of the adult population in various health care work environments. The student knows how to address challenges related to different life situations and phases and guide adult customers of different ages based on researched information.

Upon completing the course, the student
• understands the broad scope of the adult population's health care work and knows how to take into account the different life stages and situations of adulthood
• deepens his knowledge of the health challenges of the adult population by utilizing evidence-based and up-to-date information
• knows how to use extensively researched information in the treatment and prevention of diseases in the adult population, health promotion and customer guidance.
• understand the importance of different sectors in the comprehensive health promotion of the client
• can take into account and evaluate the effects of the community and the environment on the individual's health

Content

• The different life stages and situations of adulthood
• Current health challenges of the adult population
• Utilization of researched information in the treatment and prevention of diseases in the adult population, health promotion and guidance
• The importance of different sectors in treating diseases of the adult population and promoting health
• Group guidance as a form of work to promote the health of the adult population
• The impact of the community and the environment on the individual's health

Prerequisites

The student must have completed 135 ECTS credits of nursing studies and participated in the course The Basics of Public Health Nursing.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The Student
• understand the different life stages and situations of adulthood
• deepens his knowledge of the health challenges of the adult population using evidence-based and up-to-date information
• understand the importance of researched information in the treatment and prevention of diseases in the adult population, health promotion and customer guidance
• understand the importance of different sectors in the treatment of diseases of the adult population and comprehensive health promotion
• knows how to take into account the effects of the community and the environment on the individual's health

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student
• understands the different life stages and situations of adulthood and knows how to use the information in guiding the client
• deepens his knowledge of the health challenges of the adult population using evidence-based and current information and knows how to use the information in the guidance work
• knows how to use researched information in the treatment and prevention of diseases in the adult population, health promotion and customer guidance
• understand the importance of different sectors in the treatment of diseases of the adult population and comprehensive health promotion
• knows how to take into account the effects of the community and the environment on the individual's health

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The Student

• deepens his knowledge of the health challenges of the adult population using evidence-based and up-to-date information and knows how to use information individually in guidance work
• knows how to use researched information in the treatment and prevention of diseases in the adult population, health promotion and customer guidance
• understand the importance of different sectors in the treatment of diseases of the adult population and comprehensive health promotion
• can take into account and evaluate the effects of the community and the environment on the individual's health
