Objectives

The student
- is able to act in accordance with the rights, duties and responsibilities at the advanced care level of the emergency care, and in accordance with general and regional care guidelines, the value-base and the ethical principles of emergency care
- is able to carry out the examination of an ill or injured patient at the advanced care level in accordance with patient and occupational safety
- is able to use emergency care examination and teatment equipment as well as data transmission and communication equipment
- is able to document the observations related to the patient's condition, situation and events, the performed treatment and its effectiveness, and in addition is able to report the essential information to the post-treatment site and, if necessary, to guide the untreated patient and his / her significant others concerning the continuity of care
- knows the principles of systematic work, teamwork and the assignment of tasks in different roles, and knows how to act as leader in an emergency team, as a team member and in supporting a team leader or team member
- is able to act as situational manager in emergency situations for one or more units in accordance with CRM thinking and occupational safety, as well as knowing the specificities related to multi-patient and disaster / major-accident situations

Prerequisites

At the beginning of Advanced Level Emergency Care studies, the student must have completed 135 credits of studies. These should include The Basic Level Emergency Care skills, as well as studies in Anatomy and Physiology.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student
- knows the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the emergency care nurse at the advanced care level
- knows how to perform a systematic examination of the patient, assessment of his/her condition and the need for care, the measures required at the advanced care level and the ongoing reassessment of the patient’s condition
- is able to document the most essential observations of the patient’s condition, situation and events, and the effectiveness of the care, and is able to report the information to the continued care facility
- knows the principles of working with a partner or in a team
- knows his/her role as a leader in multi-patient situations
- knows the medication required at the advanced level emergency care

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student

- knows how to perform a systematic examination of the patient, assessment of the condition and need for care, the measures required at the advanced care level and the ongoing reassessment of the patient’s condition using the protocol of cABCDE
- is able to document the most essential observations of the patient’s condition, situation and events, and the effectiveness of care, and is able to report the information to the continued care facility
- knows the principles working with a partner or in a team
- knows his/ her role as a leader in multi-patient situations
- knows the medication required at the advanced care level
