Objectives
The students know the manager’s tasks, rights and obligations. The students learn the basics of labour legislations. They know the labour market system and agreement system in Finland as well as the most important contents of the collective labour agreement of their field. The students know the superior’s role and its significance in building a working atmosphere and motivating the staff. The students know the forms and challenges of management of change and team management. They know the basics of leadership psychology and the leadership challenges in a multicultural environment.
The students learn the basics of occupational safety legislation, organisations of national and company occupational safety as well as the contents and aims of occupational safety.
The students learn problem solving skills through practical examples of management. They know how to evaluate and develop themselves as superiors through interaction with the other students of the group.
Content
Superior’s tasks, rights and obligations. Employees tasks, rights and obligations. The basics of labour legislation and occupational safety legislation. History and practices of labour market system and agreement system in Finland. Collective labour agreement and its contents. The structure and management models of an organisation. The significance, building and challenges of working atmosphere. Motivating staff and challenges of motivation. Interaction in the work community. Management of change and team management, their forms, significance and challenges. Basics of leadership psychology, such as directing different types of people, how people behave in a working environment and issues affecting the behaviour. Leadership in a multicultural environment.
Central issues of occupational safety legislation. Organisations and operations which promote occupational safety in Finland. A company’s occupational safety organisation, occupational safety program, risk charting. Aims and implementations of occupational safety.
