Description
The Degree Programme of Computer Systems Engineering trains engineers for different tasks in business and especially for the computer system and telecommunication industries. The training consists of different fields of know-how and it is based on mathematical thinking. The central fields of the degree programme of Computer Systems Engineering are electrical engineering, electronics, digital technology, embedded systems, telecommunications and software engineering. The degree programme is divided into four specialisation options, where the aforementioned fields are emphasised in different ways.
The most important employers of the engineers who have graduated from the degree programme are the industries manufacturing cellular phones and phone systems and the organisations producing and maintaining network services.
SPECIALISATION IN EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
The specialisation in embedded systems gives the students the skills needed to design embedded systems. The studies consist of designing microprocessor controlled appliances, machine level software development, software production, telecommunications and digital signal handling.
SPECIALISATION IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING
The specialisation in telecommunications engineering offers training in analogue and digital data transfer methods, systems and equipment. The topics emphasised are the operating principles of data transfer and telecommunications equipment, radiophone systems, their electronic structure and measuring characteristics as well as data network systems.
SPECIALISATION IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
The specialisation in software engineering offers training in object oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, software production, databases, user interfaces and the basics of operating systems. The specialisation studies also include studies in embedded systems, telecommunications and data networks.
SPECIALISATION IN ELECTRONICS
The central topics of the specialisation studies in electronics include electronics, design methods and appliances and manufacturing techniques of the industry. In addition to electronics, emphasis is on circuit design methods and appliance design for the needs of different industries.
