Designing the ProductLaajuus (10 cr)

Objectives

The students learn the technical design of their professional field, to make selections between various technical options and to produce the materials required to manufacture and document a project. The students use design software, standards, design practices and team work. During the course, the students learn the significance of project management, division of workload and scheduling as a part of goal-oriented action.

Content

Design phase follows the definition phase. Typically the design begins by ideating different alternative solutions and choosing the best to implement. Design tasks are divided: machine design, electric design and automation design. It is essential for the group to work together and the members be aware of each others’ work and can comment on the results. All actions are documented in the diary.
The results of the design phase are drawings and other documentation which enable purchased and product production.
