Objectives

The students learn the basics of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and ionizing radiation, which are needed in the studies and tasks of automation technology. During the course the students have the opportunity to take a radiation safety certificate for the use of sealed radioactive sources and X-ray machines.

Content

Basic rules of thermodynamics, energy balance of an open system, steam tables, h,s-drawing. Uncompressed flow. Ionizing radiation and measuring it, legislation, the use of radiation in the industry, biological effects of radiation.

Literature to be announced at the beginning of the course. Teaching methods: lectures, demonstrations, calculation assignments, independent work as well as mid-term exams or a final exam. The passed course is evaluated in scale 1-5. Prerequisites: S-11011B or equivalent and S-11013A. The passed course is evaluated on scale 1-5. Language of tuition: Finnish.
